Access Statement For THE GABLES
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our, home based, two guest bedroom, Bed and Breakfast.
The following statement is a summary of our provisions. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-Arrival
• The Gables is a 5 minute drive or a 15 minute walk from the centre of Devizes along a well lit main road, or via a well-maintained canal towpath. Local Taxis can be arranged.
• The nearest train stations are Chippenham and Trowbridge.
• There are bus stops 100 metres from the house for travelling to Devizes town centre, or to and from Bath and Trowbridge.
• Links to the bus and train timetables can be found on our website.
• Our accommodation is only suitable for guests with slight mobility / visual / hearing impairments, unless they are accompanied to ensure their safety.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• We are situated on the A361 on the outskirts of Devizes opposite the top of the Caen Hill Flight of locks.
• The Gables is on the corner of Beauclerc street and Bath Road. Cars may be parked in Beauclerc Street, in front of our green gates or there is space for 2 cars to be parked on the drive at the bottom of our garden (Still under construction but useable.)
• We offer assistance with luggage.
Main Entrance
• There is a concrete path leading to the front door. There is a step 10cm and another of 5cm high into the property.
• The hallway is 120cm wide by 360cm long to the base of the stairs. The hall is carpeted. The walls are cream with wooden skirting boards and doors.
• There is a phone available for UK landline calls
Public Areas - General (Internal)
• There are 16 carpeted stairs with one wooden bannister rail leading to the first floor.
• There is an 80cm wide passage leading to the bedrooms.
• The landing is well lit and has a night light.
Public Areas - WC
• Room 1 (Family Room) has an ensuite shower room and toilet
• Room 2 (Twin room) has an ensuite shower room and toilet
• There are no ground floor public W.C.s
Dining Room
• Breakfast is served in the dining room to the left of the front door.
• Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. There is one dining chair with arms. A high chair is available.
• A microwave is available for guests who wish to heat up their own evening meal.
Laundry
• We can offer overnight drying facilities in our boiler room on request.
Shop
• There is a well-stocked Spar shop 100 metres away.
Bedrooms
• Both rooms are lockable. Both bedrooms are carpeted and the shower rooms have vinyl floors.
• The family room has a double bed. There are 2 x 20cm steps down to single bed area / shower room annexe.
• A travel cot is available
• The Twin room may be booked as a double.
• There are linked smoke alarms throughout the house and guests will be informed if any action needs to be taken
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]
• Family room
• The wash basin is situated outside the shower room and is rounded at the front and is 78cm high. The shower room has a toilet with 20cm clearance either side and the shower has a 22cm step up into it. Grab rails to be installed
• Twin Room
• The twin room has an en-suite off the bedroom with toilet, bidet and shower cubicle. The shower has 18cm step up into it. Grab rails to be installed.
• The wash basin is situated outside the en-suite. It is rounded at the front and is 84cm high.
